Alexander McCrea
Left-of-centre campaigns

So you want to run. Let's get you elected.

I'm Alexander McCrea. I specialize in left-of-centre campaigns, and I stay beside candidates from "I think I should run" to election night.

My story

Why I do this

[Alexander, in your own words: the moment politics got hold of you. A door you knocked on, a night you remember, a person who pulled you in.]

[What you have done since. The campaigns, the roles, what you learned the hard way.]

[Why you would rather help someone else win than run yourself, and what kind of candidate you want to work with.]

Good people talk themselves out of running every day. My job is to make sure the ones who should run, do, and that they don't do it alone.

The road to election day

From "should I run?" to election night

Every candidate walks the same road. Here is each stop, what it asks of you, and where I come in.

  1. Deciding to run

You care about something enough to put your name on a ballot. You are not sure you can win, or what it will cost you.

    Where I come in

An honest read on the race: whether it is winnable, and what it takes in time, money and family.

  2. Choosing your lane

A party, or your own platform. Which one fits what you believe, and which one gives you a real path to the seat.

    Where I come in

We weigh the options together, then I introduce you to the organizers and local associations you need to know.

  3. Winning the nomination

Before the voters choose you, the members do. That means signing people up and getting them into the room on the night.

    Where I come in

The membership drive, the count, and a turnout plan for nomination night. Running as an independent? We go straight to step 4.

  4. Building your team

A campaign manager, someone to handle the money, volunteers, and a reason for people to vote for you that fits in one breath.

    Where I come in

I help you find the people, write the plan and the budget, and shape your story so it sounds like you.

  5. The campaign

Doors, phones, signs, debates, reporters. Weeks of it, and every day there is more to do than time to do it.

    Where I come in

I decide with you which doors and which voters come first, track who is with you, and get you ready for debates and interviews.

  6. Election day

Everything comes down to whether the people who said yes at the door actually vote.

    Where I come in

I run the get-out-the-vote operation from the advance polls until the last one closes.

Already partway down the road? Tell me where you are and we start from there.

How I help

Wherever you are, I can meet you there

You have never run before

I walk you through all of it, in plain language, starting with whether you should run at all.

Your campaign is already moving

I step in where you are short: the field plan, the message, the turnout operation, or a second opinion.

You need the right people

I connect campaigns to each other, and to the organizers, volunteers and specialists I trust.
